Never more
than five.

Small cohorts, live each week on Zoom, with a curriculum designed around the specific students in the room. We were the first to enforce the cap of five. It has never been broken.

Focus group class

Small enough that everyone is seen. Big enough that nobody learns alone.

Honest fit first

Is this the right pathway?

We'd rather point you elsewhere than enrol the wrong student. Here's the honest read.

Focus groups fit when

  • The goal is structured, ongoing preparation for JMSS or VCE
  • The student learns well with peers, discussion and a bit of momentum
  • You want the strongest teaching-per-dollar of any weekly pathway
  • Accountability helps: mocks, homework and a cohort moving together

Consider Private Coaching instead when

  • The student has specific gaps that need targeted, individual repair
  • Scheduling needs more flexibility than a fixed weekly group time
  • The student would genuinely rather work alone with full attention

The mechanics

How a focus group runs.

1
Enquire and place

We place your student in a group at their level. If it’s full, the cap holds: you join the waitlist and we contact it in order as new groups open.

2
The cohort curriculum

Lessons, examples and pacing are redesigned weekly around the actual group in the room, not a generic term plan.

3
Live weekly on Zoom

Real discussion, individual attention, and every class recorded and posted to the student portal with its notes.

4
Outside class hours

Individual corrections on each student’s work, mocks marked to VCAA guidelines with a group examiner’s report, and written progress reports home.

In the rate

What's included. All of it, no extras.

A cohort-built curriculum

Redesigned weekly around the students actually in the room. No recycled term templates.

Mock exams, marked properly

Written for the cohort, sat under conditions, and marked to VCAA guidelines with a full examiner’s report explaining exactly where marks were won and lost.

Individual feedback, even in a group

Every student receives personal corrections outside class hours. No one disappears into the average.

Notes written from scratch

Annotated notes and worksheets built for each group, with exam technique layered in progressively, posted to the portal with every recording.

Written progress reports

Families always know exactly where their student stands and what the next focus is.

What it costs

Half the price of private. None of the compromise.

Billed weekly, auto-deducted, one week at a time. No enrolment fees, no term contracts, and the rate is the same whether your group has three students or five.

$30 /hrYear 10 & below
$35 /hrYear 11
$37 /hrYear 12

The majority of Clarity Coaching tutors follow these rates; a small number of our longest-serving coaches set theirs above, always confirmed before any payment. Full breakdown and a cost calculator on the fees page.

The 6-week confidence window

Six weeks to be sure. If it isn't right, full refund.

This pathway is covered in full. Six weeks of classes to judge us properly, and if you're still not convinced, every dollar comes back. The terms:

1

Be in the room

Attend at least five of your first six weekly classes live.

2

Do the work

Complete 80% of the set homework on time.

3

Still not sure? Say so

One message, full refund of every class. No forms, no hoops.

In their words

From focus group families.

The mocks were the hardest thing I’d ever sat. The actual exam felt easy by comparison.Tim C. · Year 9 Focus Group, JMSS 2025
The annotated notes are genuinely unlike anything I’ve seen. My daughter’s teacher asked where they came from.Parent · Science Focus Group 2024
The portal is great, all the recordings and notes are just there whenever she misses something or wants to revise. Payments come out weekly without me having to think about it.Parent · VCE Focus Group
Before you ask

Common questions.

What happens if the group is full?

Full means full: the cap of five has never been broken. You join the waitlist, and as demand builds we open new groups and contact the waitlist first, in order.

Does the group size change the price?

No. Three, four or five students, the rate is the same. The cap exists for teaching quality, not pricing tiers.

What if we miss a class?

Every class is recorded and posted to the student portal alongside its notes, so a missed week is never a lost week. Questions between sessions still reach the tutor.

How does the 6-week confidence window work?

Attend at least five of your first six weekly classes live, complete 80% of the set homework on time, and if you’re still not convinced, one message gets you a full refund of every class.

Where to from here

Tell us where things stand for your student. We'll confirm your exact rate, answer your questions, and tell you honestly if a different pathway would serve them better.
