Five kids in the class and somehow it still felt like he was teaching just me. Came in for Methods hoping for a 32 last year, finished on a 45.Student · VCE Maths Methods
One student.
One plan.
Fully one on one. The curriculum, the pacing and every resource are built around a single student, then reshaped week by week as their understanding grows. Nothing is shared, nothing is recycled.
$55 to $60 an hourby year level · billed weekly · no lock-in

The plan changes as fast as the student does. That is the whole point of one on one.
Is this the right pathway?
We'd rather point you elsewhere than enrol the wrong student. Here's the honest read.
Private coaching fits when
- The student has specific gaps that a group pace would skate past
- The target is ambitious: a 40+ raw score, a selective entry offer, a scholarship
- Scheduling needs flexibility a fixed group time cannot give
- The student works best with full attention and nowhere to coast
Consider Focus Groups instead when
- The student learns well alongside peers and a bit of healthy competition
- Budget matters: groups run at roughly half the hourly rate
- The goal is structured, ongoing preparation rather than targeted repair
How a private pathway runs.
Tell us the subject, the year level and the goal. We match a tutor and confirm your exact rate before you pay anything.
A curriculum built for one student: what is secure, what is not, and the order that fixes it. Reshaped every week.
Live, one on one, recorded to the student portal. Correction happens at the exact point understanding breaks, not just at the final answer.
Questions reach the tutor and get answered. Hard problems become recorded walkthroughs the student keeps. Families receive written progress reports.
What's included. All of it, no extras.
A curriculum for one person
Sessions target exact goals, so no hour is spent re-covering what is already secure.
Custom SACs and exam preparation
School-assessed coursework written for your student, matched to their school’s style, with exam technique woven through every session rather than bolted on at the end.
Recorded walkthroughs
Difficult questions get video explanations posted to the portal, kept and rewatchable all year.
Individual corrections
Personal feedback on the student’s own work, targeted at the precise point their understanding falters.
Written progress reports
Detailed updates covering strengths, gaps and what comes next. You always know where things stand.
Priced by year level. That’s it.
Billed weekly, auto-deducted, one week at a time. No enrolment fees, no term contracts, and if it stops working, you simply stop.
The majority of Clarity Coaching tutors follow these rates; a small number of our longest-serving coaches set theirs above, always confirmed before any payment. Full breakdown and a cost calculator on the fees page.

No lock-in contract felt unusual at first. Then we realised, that’s the point. You stay because it works.Parent · Year 11, Private Coaching
What sold me was that they were honest. I asked about a subject and instead of taking the money they told me my son didn’t need help with that one yet.Parent · VCE
Common questions.
How is the tutor chosen?
We match on subject, year level and the goals you describe in your enquiry, and we confirm the tutor and your exact rate before any payment. If the fit isn’t working, tell us and we’ll sort it.
What does it cost, exactly?
$55 an hour for Year 10 and below, $58 for Year 11, $60 for Year 12, billed weekly with no lock-in. The full breakdown, including what moves a rate above base, is on the fees page.
How does the 6-week confidence window work?
Attend at least five of your first six weekly sessions, complete 80% of the set homework on time, and if you’re still not convinced, one message gets you a full refund of every class.
What do we need to supply ourselves?
Just textbooks, a scientific calculator, and CAS software or calculator where the subject requires them. Everything we create, notes, SACs, mocks, recordings and reports, is included in the rate.
Start with one conversation.
Tell us where things stand for your student. We'll confirm your exact rate, answer your questions, and tell you honestly if a different pathway would serve them better.
